Holy Week & Easter at St. Michael’s

Worship Services from Palm/Passion Sunday to Easter Sunday 2026

March 29: Palm-Passion Sunday

  • 8:00 and 10:00am Holy Eucharist. The 10:00am service will begin outside at the steps to the Cathedral.

 

Monday March 30 and Tuesday March 31: Holy Eucharist in Holy Week at 5pm.

  • Simple services with musical accompaniment for reflection in Holy Week.

 

Wednesday April 1: The Way of the Cross at 5pm.

  • A collective observance of prayer and readings at each of the fourteen Stations of the Cross, encircling the Nave of the Cathedral.

 

Thursday April 2: Maundy Thursday

  • 7pm Holy Eucharist with the Washing of Feet and the Stripping of the Altar (Please note that following the Maundy Thursday service, a vigil will be kept by various members of the congregation through the night to the morning of Good Friday.)

 

Friday April 3: Good Friday

  • 12:00 Noon: A Liturgy for Meditation on the Cross

 

(Saturday April 4: An invitation to join in the Easter Vigil at St Andrew’s Anglican Church)

 

Sunday April 5: The Day of Resurrection (Easter Sunday)

6:00AM: The Sunrise Service of Holy Communion on Easter Day begins at 6:00am in the Cathedral Garden along Richter St with the New Fire of Easter and the lighting of candles. Breakfast will be offered in the Tinker Room following the service.

8:00AM: A said service of Holy Communion from the Book of Alternative Services (BAS 230) using the language of the Book of Common Prayer.

10:00AM: A choral service of Holy Communion from the Book of Alternative Services (BAS 185), including the rites of Confirmation and Reaffirmation of Baptism Vows. Children’s activity packs will be available and an Easter Egg hunt will follow the service.
