Funeral & Memorial Services
The Cathedral Church of St. Michael and All Angels seeks to be a place of gentle and faithful support in times of loss for those who would honour their loved ones and commend them into the care and keeping of God from St. Michael’s.
The Cathedral grounds include a Columbarium for the interment of ashes in dedicated niches, as well as a Scatter Garden and a Memorial Wall for plaques in memory of loved ones.
The clergy and staff of the parish, along with our Catering Group, will be a helpful presence in preparing for such events, and welcome your inquiries.
Please contact the church office at 250-762-3321.
The COLUMBARIUM and VANEBO MEMORIAL GARDENS
Built in 2013, the St. Michael’s Columbarium, Memorial Wall, and Scattering Gardens are integral parts of the Cathedral’s worship space.
The outdoor Columbarium is located between the Cathedral and Saint Michael’s House. It is a beautifully landscaped, restful space enclosed by an artistic ironwork fence and four banks of granite niches. A memorial wall offers space for plaques to honour loved ones interred in the scattering gardens or elsewhere.
The scattering garden features roses, grasses, and lavenders, and lies along the south wall on the Sutherland Avenue side of the Cathedral building. The ironwork arch welcomes you to the Vanebo Memorial Garden, so-named after the late Noreen Vanebo, a long-time, faithful parishioner.
Niches and plaques are available to members/families of the Anglican Church of Canada and its affiliates.
For more information contact the church office, who will direct you to the St. Michael’s Columbarium manager: David Worrall
