Thursdays in Lent
On Thursdays in Lent, the Dean and the Executive Archdeacon will lead a book study and discussion of Walter Brueggemann’s Materiality as Resistance: Five Elements for Moral Action in the Real World (Westminster John Knox Press, 2020). Brueggemann is a prolific author ordained in the United Church of Christ, and Professor Emeritus of Old Testament studies at Columbia Theological Seminary. The book explores “how we as Christians may reengage our materiality for the common good.” That is: how do we use the matter we have at hand — Money, Food, The Body, Time, and Place — to live out the Gospel from the Church for the good of the world?
The book is widely available online or for order through Mosaic Books.
