DESCRIPTION:Maundy (“Mandate”) Thursday marks the command of Christ to love one another, at the heart of which is Christ’s own self-giving love. This is demonstrated in the Washing of the Feet, and continues in the recognition of the Passover as the occasion of God’s act of salvation from slavery for the People of Israel under the oppression of the Pharoah, and now taken up by Jesus in the Institution of the Lord’s Supper on the way to the cross. The service concludes with the Stripping of the Altar in preparation for Good Friday.\n
